Workflow Automation Engine Workflow engine is a powerful highly technical business process automation (BPA) engine that provides unprecedented capability for business process capturing and automated transaction processing. It is designed to define organisation-wide any systematic pattern of activity, requiring repeated execution, and to set up straight-through-processing (STP) of almost any financial transaction. The sub-system enables the creation of document processing scenarios, or lifecycles, of various complexity. A lifecycle represents a set of single processing steps or components of a workflow linked together by transformation algorithms which move a document all the way from the initial through to the final processing step. The number of steps forming a document lifecycle only depends on the applied business logic. The business logic is described in transformation rules which transform one type of input into one type of output that is used as input to downstream steps. Several alternative output descriptions can be supported by each set of transformation rules, making it possible to define different processing scenarios for the same type of document. The execution of a transformation rule triggers various tasks such as automated account balance checking, origination of new documents, generation and posting of GL entries, formation of SWIFT messages, emailing advice notes to customers and more.
